So you looked at the transformation of polo shirts, and thought you'd come here, eh? Well, hopefully it won't disappoint.
I started looking at images from Vickie's. Now these images are incredibly complex and color rich. Believe me, I looked at them for hours. But one image struck me as having potential.
As with the polo shirts, I transformed the image from a jpg to a gif to reduce the palette. One of the characteristics of this image is that some of the text to the left matches her swim top, so you'll see it change in the images to follow.
This is Dark Red (#8b0000). It works quite well, although you see some small imperfections in the right hand strap.
This is Olive (#808000). As the colors get lighter, the imperfections in the transformation become more noticeable.
This is Coral (#FF7F50)
And finally, this was as close as I could get to her skin tone. In this case, the complexity and color density of the image makes it very difficult to retain the illusion; you can still see hints of blue bordering the orange of the straps.
Now this is a 256 color image, so the transformation is bound to be difficult. I'll post some very simple images soon to show you how the transformation works with flatter palettes.
