development, and
I am passionate about helping you convert visitors into customers and

your Zen Cart™ based store.
I appreciate your visit to my site, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Pricing Information
Zen Cart contributions, tips and tricks are free, but a donation is appreciated.Forums are free, but if you contact me directly to work on a problem you're having, please be prepared to pay.
Zen Cart Extensions are priced as indicated on the help page for the extension. Custom programming services available at $60/hr. Payment is required in advance. Typically I can provide a fixed price bid for projects which are well defined and require ten hours of work or less. Larger projects, projects with significant unknowns and exploratory projects will be billed on an hourly basis with a ten hour deposit. Refunds will be made for unused hours.
I generally don't debug code written by other people; I take your specifications and apply them to a vanilla copy of the latest Zen Cart release.
Telephone consultations are $80 for up to one hour, payable in advance. You must have a current, working Zen Cart installed on the public Internet that both of us can access. Consultations typically occur in the evenings or on weekends; scheduling will be done as soon as payment is received.
... and on many other professional and social networking sites.
Business Model
That Software Guy, Inc. is a microconsultancy. I place intentional limits on the amount of time I put into it. The scope of services I offer is narrow in focus. It is not a vertically integrated business - I don't do hosting, maintenance, upgrades or templates. For the most part, what I do is custom software development - based on your personal needs, tailored to your personal specifications. To reiterate: I generally don't do operational support, shop maintenance or upgrades, or debugging. If you need help with this sort of thing, I will happily refer you to someone in my network of associates, but it's unlikely I will do it myself. I also generally don't do template design - which is a good thing, given my complete lack of taste or style (hint: I wear pleated khakis and think they're cool).
I can only handle a certain number of clients at a time. If you need your changes right away, I may not be able to take on your project. Please don't be offended. To be fair to everyone, I handle client requests on a first paid, first served basis.
At any given time, I may be delivering the next week, or I may be delivering several weeks out. The latter means I have a backlog of client requests. Rest assured that when your turn comes, I'll give your project the same attention and care I'm giving to someone else's project right now.
If am unable to take on your job at this time, I may forward it to someone else who is capable of handling the work. If you would prefer that I not forward your current proposal, please include that preference in your request.
Delivery
When I give you a delivery date for a change, this reflects my worst-case estimate of how long it will take. I generally promise next-week delivery, unless I'm really backlogged. I may wind up delivering sooner, perhaps much sooner, but in no event (the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise) will it be any later. I would much prefer to deliver early and be a hero than deliver late and be a goat.Unless otherwise specified, I deliver software in the form of a zip file by email. The file contains a README with instructions. If you require installation assistance, I will be happy to do so for an additional charge. I don't use a shopping cart for delivery (the irony!) because I sometimes like to ask a few questions before I close the sale.
Pricing
Prices are firm as posted and as quoted. To be fair to all customers, I have a no-discounting policy. The money you are paying for extensions and custom development also supports the free software I provide.People trying to hire computer-related services on the Internet frequently confuse price, cost and value. I am not the lowest price bidder. My prices are based on the value I bring to the table. However, I understand that everyone has a budget, and if you cannot afford to hire me, I encourage you to put your project up for bid on the Zen Cart Commercial Help Wanted forum. By hiring from this forum, you are helping support Zen Cart (since only paid subscribers can respond to postings there).
Payment
In general, I require payment in full prior to commencement of work. This expectation is relaxed for established, problem-free clients with whom I have done more than $1000 worth of business. I prefer payment by Paypal, but if required can send you an invoice from Google Checkout. Payments by eCheck must clear prior to commencement of work.Testimonials
